Materials & Process

Steel is chosen… Geometry is earned… Performance is tested…

Every Kurogane blade begins with premium steel selected for real-world performance—not trends.

We focus on steels such as CPM MagnaCut, M390, and S35VN / S45VN for their balance of corrosion resistance, toughness, and edge stability.

Heat treatment is tightly controlled to achieve consistent hardness without sacrificing durability or resilience.

Our Damascus blades utilize a high-performance stainless core clad in pattern-welded high-carbon steel, combining visual character with dependable cutting performance. Each blade is heat treated with the same discipline applied to our mono-steel blades to ensure consistency and reliability.

Every blade is ground for purpose—edge geometry, balance, and ergonomics are refined by hand to ensure control, efficiency, and longevity.

No shortcuts… No compromises… Just tools built to endure…

Fixed Blades

Built for hard use, field reliability, and control.

Every design prioritizes balance, heat treatment,

and edge geometry.

The Maker

Forged by hand. Guided by discipline.

The work of Kurogane Forge Works is guided by the principles attributed to Taro Kurogane — a disciplined approach rooted in traditional Japanese forging and refined through modern metallurgy.

Kurogane Forge Works was built on a simple belief: tools should earn their place through performance, not marketing.

Every blade is forged with intention — from steel selection and heat treatment to geometry, balance, and finish. There are no shortcuts, no outsourced steps, and no trends driving decisions.

The process is rooted in traditional techniques, refined with modern metallurgy, and guided by real-world use. Each knife is built to be used, maintained, and relied upon — not collected and forgotten.

This is not mass production.

It’s controlled craft, repeated with discipline.

Built for real use. Built to last. Built for Life.
